Quassy Amusement Park

Trip Report - 5/15/04:

Quassy Amusement Park
Saturday May 15th 2004
Crowds/Weather Light/Warm-Sunny

Mike: The plan was to get up at the motel early, get to Lake Compounce in time for it's Noon opening, then, after 2 hours or so head over to Quassy, then back to Compounce for riding Boulder Dash until closing. Well, of course, it didn't work out that way. We weren't on the road until late, and at Noon we were still on I-84. I decided it might be better to go to Quassy first, then head to Lake Compounce for the rest of the day.

Park Rating
Mike: 1.5/5
Comments: I want to like Quassy. Really. But it's got just absolutely nothing for me to do past riding the mouse coaster.

I mean nothing. Nada. Zip. Jack shit.

So after 5 mouse rides it was time to move on. Regardless of the lack of stuff for an adult thrill seeker to do, I'll be making sure to swing by to get on this mouse whenever I'm in the area. And if I had a kid I'd bring them and their friends in a second. But I don't have a kid. So moving on...

Cla:
Comments: Quassy sucks but it has one fun coaster, which in my opinion makes the park suck even more. Really! It totally fails as a park whcih then makes a pretty cool coaster fail as well by being here! I have high praises for this coaster, but i cant feel good about myself telling someone to take a trip to Quassy to ride this ONE coaster!

Mad Mouse (Mouse steel coaster)
Cla: Rating 3.889653/5
Comments: One of the charming things about this coaster is how rickety it looks. There are also 3 quarts of motor oil at the foot of the lift hill. The first turn whips you around good, giving you an idea of what's to come. The first drop is rather thirlling & the fun doesnt stop there - with virtually non stop turns at slightly below breakneck speed this mousie is fun!. But remember, it is still a mouse coaster, so don't expect beyond that.

Mike: Rating 3.5/5
Comments: This was mad fun um... no pun intended. Unlike the Rye and CP mouse coasters (my 2 previous), I now understand what is good about mouse coasters. Seatbelts around my legs, decrepit looking track, tight turns, decent hills and bumpy as hell with a nice fast speed. This thing is really cool.

Post Script: A kid in Compounce informed Cla that Quassy has the "best arcade in the area." Shit, we didn't even see an arcade. Something to look for next time, I guess.
